The Salon

The gripping conversation which makes you want to know the other person and her idea in detail, and which inspires you to put your own creative energy into the world, does not always just happen.

A rich social and intellectual community, which creates the context for your happiness and your achievement, similarly doesn't just happen.

I like the company of my friends, but I realize that if I just leave it up to them to gather and do things then I don't get all the different things I want in my life, so I'm supplementing.

There's also a grand hope that through the intense mixing of different minds in the context I'm proposing we can stimulate people to put more of themselves into their academic and creative projects.

I'm proposing to organize a salon.

I don't want to be a scenester but... oh hell a good scene would be nice. A scene where people feel pushed by their friends to make a mark.
